Abstract: Extriangulated categories were introduced in collaboration with Hiroyuki Nakaoka, in order to
- axiomatize extension-closed subcategories of triangulated categories
- generalize both exact categories and triangulated categories.
In this course, I will motivate and introduce the definition of an extriangulated category.
After surveying some basic results, the use of extriangulated categories will be illustrated with examples and recent results inspired from cluster algebras, tau-tilting theory, silting theory...
