Description: The wealth and continuity of life in an English parish. Further film outside the Church. Reflections on English Churches and the wealth that they demonstrate, partly from the East Anglian sheep industry. They also show the dominance and importance of religion; England was free from invasions for a long time and has more old middle class buildings than the whole of the rest of the world. Quite large parts of the village are over 600 years old. It was a village full of money, mobility and part of a bigger world. And from Earls Colne this world was taken to America, for example the founder of Harvard University, Thomas Sheppard, came from Earls Colne.
