Abstract: | Founded in 2013, the Cambridge Development Initiative (CDI) is an opportunity for university students to pioneer entrepreneurial development projects in the city of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Over July-August 2014, CDI volunteers piloted a diverse range of projects, from building an affordable sewerage system with a local community to doing policy work with the Tanzanian Ministry of Health. In addition to their impact on the ground, the projects also turned out to be an important platform for young Tanzanian leaders to tackle the challenges their city is facing. CDI's co-founder Patrick Hoffmann will give a short account of CDI's projects and outline CDI's vision for the role Cambridge students can play in Africa. |
