Abstract: | This presentation is a Silver minus performance. The clarity of the vocal projection, from the reasonably strong opening onwards, is quite good throughout. Some tone change and emphasis is used, and there is a reasonably wide vocabulary use, primarily for descriptive purposes; sentences are usually well structured. Despite some listing of items, reasons and explanations are generally apparent throughout the presentation; however, the overall structure of the talk is somewhat random, having the appearance of only limited planning. The audience is addressed directly and their possible concerns are a feature of the talk at times; there is a personal tone throughout with an emphasis on positive aspects of experiences in Year 7. There is some evidence of the use of rhetorical devices through questions, but these are infrequent. The performance is quite lively and engaging, though somewhat fidgety body movements (e.g. grasping the shirt button) are rather distracting. However, on the whole the speaker does not seem very nervous about engaging in this kind of talk task. |
