Description: Bkra shis bzang po (b.1989) recorded these five folktales in Xining City, Qinghai Province, PR China on 3 November 2008. They are narrated in Minyak, a Qiangic language spoken in at least nine villages, including Bkra shis bzang po's natal village of Bang smad, located in Bang smad Township, Nyag rong County, Dkar mdzes Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. The other villages where Minyak is spoken are also in Bang smad Township. Minyak is also spoken in Ma 'chig Township in Nyag rong County however, the number of Minyak-speaking communities there is unknown.
