Abstract:	Sam is an early career teacher talking about his career trajectory from army officer to school middle management position. Studying on the ELSI MEd course after one year of teaching has proved a highly effective form of professional development as this teacher seeks to gain the experience necessary to move into a senior leadership position. The course has allowed him to introduce a pupil voice initiative into his school.
