| Abstract: | I will describe recent progress towards the classification of groups of parabolic characteristic p, p a prime. I will also draw attention to where methods used in the classification might transfer easily to the classification of saturated fusion systems. Much of the work I will describe is joint with Gernot Stroth and Ulrich Meierfrankenfeld. |
