Abstract: | This presentation examines some theological questions raised by brain impairment, focusing on four cases: Phineas Gage, Henry Molaison (‘patient HM’), Fyodor Dostoyevsky, and the Good Friday Experiment. The questions relate to issues of personal identity and spirituality, which are treated as ‘soul functions’. |
