Abstract: These are Bronze performances from both participants. Their level of active listening and responding is low. Questioning and response is consistently hesitant and often unclear. The choice of vocabulary, whilst broadly appropriate, does not help to convey information very precisely in either instructions or questions. Some questions are used to seek new information and clarification, and answers are provided; but these exchanges are often limited and ineffective in moving the task forward. There is no reassurance, encouragement or cues to ensure that the task partner is fully prepared for subsequent instruction; silences are often taken as assent. An appreciation of what the partner needs to know seems limited on both sides.
