Abstract: After learning about life in Pompeii and Herculaneum — including recreating Pompeian life through art, drama and roleplay — children at King’s Hedges Primary School learn hands on about how archaeologists have uncovered the two Italian cities buried by a volcanic eruption 2,000 years ago. “My favourite part must have been when we were doing the archaeology, and we had like a bucket of soil and there were artefacts buried and we all had to dig them out,” one child explains. The children’s learning concludes with a trip to London to see the exhibit “Life and Death in Pompeii and Herculaneum” at the British Museum.
