Abstract: | I will present an overview of the concentration of measure phenomenon, results and techniques, starting with Levy's isoperimetric inequality on the Euclidean sphere and following up with examples in other settings: Gaussian, discrete etc. I will also sketch some applications such as Dvoretzky's theorem on almost spherical sections of convex bodies and indicate some links to quantum information. |
