Abstract: | This clip depicts a starter activity intended to stimulate discussion in pairs or table groups. The children (aged 12-13) have to negotiate a response to each item and consider the links between them. Note that a sound file – the Pink Panther theme – is embedded in the picture. The slide was presented at the start of the lesson and the music attracted the children’s attention as they entered the room. The clip illustrates the teacher modelling responses and encouraging the children to consider alternatives.
This footage was collected during the IWBs and Dialogic Teaching research study funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ref. RES-063-27-0081) as part of a personal Research Fellowship carried out by Sara Hennessy during 2007-10. ref. Caroline Lesson 1: 14.10.09-14.11.45 (C1.1). |
