Abstract: | Whilst this very short clip illustrates a simple use of the IWB by a child in the class, its main purpose is to illustrate the idea that in order for children to talk productively they need to know how. Here primary school teacher Diane introduces some talk rules for the pupils (aged 10) to trial and she provides an opportunity for them to discuss which they see as important. Her aim was to support classroom dialogue in the personal safety activities that follow.
This footage was collected during the IWBs and Dialogic Teaching research study funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ref. RES-063-27-0081) as part of a personal Research Fellowship carried out by Sara Hennessy during 2007-10. ref. Diane Lesson 2: 14.03.54-14.04.38 (D2.4). |
