Abstract: It is no secret that our world has become irrevocably transformed by technology. Technology seems to be transforming not only our surrounding world but ourselves along with it. With such far-ranging advances in medical technology, information technology and biotechnology come an equally difficult set of ethical and theological issues. This presentation will outline some of these ethical issues, such as the distinction between therapy and enhancement and the various arguments used for and against the use of technology for enhancement purposes. Furthermore, this presentation will address the theological issues surrounding the eruption of sophisticated ideologies such as transhumanism that spring from the enhancement debates.’
