Description: | Our major Evensong sermon series this Michaelmas boasts some key names in the field of science-religion debate and looks at how scientific reasoning and Christian faith can come together to explore the mystery of “life, the universe and everything” (to steal a phrase from the famously atheistic Johnian alumnus Douglas Adams). Does being a scientist mean giving up on “childish” Christianity? What does Genesis have to say in the world of the Big Bang and neo-Darwinian evolution? What should a theology which takes modern evolutionary and cosmological theories seriously look like? Has the current apparent-antipathy between faith and science always existed? In short, can science and religion ever be friends? |
